Another 5 Minutes of Fame

I have always been a big fan of Dear Jane, because they make music I like, and they're all very nice guys.

I first noticed them from watching a snippet of their video for 男兒當打交 in Times Square. I would randomly accost passersby, asking if they could tell me who the band was. That song was, and is, great.

Sadly, no one in Times Square could tell me who the band was. 

Or maybe they just didn't want to talk to a sweaty gweilo.

Did I mention this was July of 2005?

I met them in December of that year, and we became friends. As busy as I am, it is often months before I get to see them in person, but we run into each other at gigs like Let's Fight and the Converse MOOV show.

I always enjoy hanging out with them and acting like musicians do; making fun of everything, including ourselves, and generally laughing as much as we can.

I suppose it helps that Howie lived in Canada and Tim in the USA. I admit, a compatible sense of humor can sometimes be a rare thing for me to find.

Howie even helped me out tremendously with COCKFIGHT, playing bass and singing backup vocals.

So what does any of this have to do with me, really?

I will be playing second guitar for Dear Jane.
 
I have no idea why they asked me (that's not self-deprecation; middle-aged and white are simply not common qualities of local pop stars...), but I am immensely grateful and I am looking forward to it with great excitement.

If you have the inclination to attend, I would be very grateful.

I don't get any free tickets, but I ought to mention that Hotcha! is also on the bill.
